Dog Welfare Grants

Boris and Monica are long-time residents of West Vancouver and have been raising money for dog rescue organizations for years. Boris and Monica’s love of dogs prompted Monica to open this fund, in memory of Boris, to continue supporting dogs in need.

So far this year (July 2024), 7 grants have been issued to dog rescue and welfare charities across Canada. One of the recipients has already shared the impact the grant has had on their organization and the dogs in their community.

Funder: Dog Rescue Fund (Boris and Monica Schaffer)

Grantee: Manitoba Underdogs Rescue

Project: Spay/Neuter Clinic

“Our spay/neuter clinic took place March 2024. Forty-nine dogs were spayed or neutered, and seventy-five dogs were vaccinated and dewormed. This has a lasting impact in their community promoting health (mitigating disease/parasites through vaccines and deworming) and safety (reducing chances of roaming/aggressive intact dogs). Additionally, it has helped humanely manage the dog population for the community.”
