Lions Gate Hospital Foundation

Vacuum-assisted wound therapy system

Grant Program: Donor Advised

Funded by: Ian and Rosemary Mottershead Fund

The Ian and Rosemary Mottershead Fund provided a grant to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation for this beneficial system. Weekly, 5-8 patients benefit from this.

Overall, the acquisition and implementation of the vacuum-assisted wound therapy system at LGH have yielded positive outcomes and accomplishments, including accelerated wound healing, reduced infection rates, improved patient comfort and quality of life, cost-effective wound management, and enhanced collaboration and expertise among healthcare professionals. These achievements have significantly benefited our patients and strengthened our commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services.

Vacs are an essential item for our patients with complex wound healing – having portable machines can expedite their discharge to home and that is always a key priority when their wound is stable. The grant’s support has been invaluable in addressing some of our immediate patients’ needs as it relates to the necessary treatment of wounds.

"We are incredibly grateful for the West Vancouver Foundation’s facilitation of this gift from the Mottershead’s. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate again in the future".
