Connecting Through Culture and Movement

On June 7th a Neighbourhood Small Grant was able to bring together almost 50 participants from diverse backgrounds on the North Shore to participate in dancing and Tibetan culture!  The event was originally scheduled for 10:30am-12:00pm but due to a high level of interest and participation the event ran until 1:00pm. During this afternoon participants were able top learn and experience Guozhuang Dance which is a traditional Tibetan folk dance. Dancing with each other engaged the community in physical activity, cultural appreciation and social connection. Additionally, this social event allowed for neighbours to meet, develop new friendships, find others to share cultural traditions with and enjoy being outdoors with one another. The event touched caused many to express interest in joining future dance sessions and learning more about the cultural significance of Guozhuang Dance!
