Neighbour Grants Story: Mid Autumn Festival
Young children from different cultural backgrounds had the opportunity to learn about a traditional Chinese festival when three families who had been living in West Vancouver joined together to organize a Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Cake Festival. The Moon Cake Festival is for family union – it’s a time for families to get together to celebrate with tasty mooncakes and fruits. Everyone also learned the legend and poem of the festival.
In September of 2018, forty-one children registered and more than eighty people participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival, which took place at the West Vancouver Community Centre.
The organizers would like to express their gratitude to the West Vancouver Foundation and the Neighbour Grants Committee for their financial and in-kind support!
