West Vancouver's Vital Signs

Vital Signs

West Vancouver's Vital Signs report measures community vitality and well-being. Combining quality of life indicators with explanations, comparisons and examples, Vital Signs creates a snapshot of the community and the people who live here, providing a tool for discussion, planning and action. The 2016 Vital Signs report provided a snapshot of what was happening in West Vancouver in 10 different areas, such as Learning, Safety, Environment, and Health and Wellness. Local residents and community leaders participated in developing the 2017 report by providing more than 1000 points of engagement. Our task now is to use this research to better support the agencies working at the community level, to connect our donors with opportunities to help address these issues, and to engage residents in simple things that we can all do to create connections and build community.

About Community Vital Signs

Vital Signs is a national program led by community foundations and coordinated by Community Foundations of Canada. We leverage local knowledge to measure the vitality of our communities and support action towards improving our collective quality of life. Vital Signs aims to inspire civic engagement and provide focus for public debate in our communities and around the world. Vital Signs reports and Vital Conversations are used by residents, businesses, community organizations, universities and colleges, and government leaders to take action and direct resources where they will have the greatest impact.

First started by Toronto Foundation in 2001, Vital Signs is now a global program that has engaged more than 85 communities in Canada and around the world to mobilize the power of community knowledge for greater local impact.

West Vancouver's Vital Signs is part of a Community Foundations of Canada program that has involved over 65 community foundations in Canada and around the world.
